New Hampshire author at Lulu.com, proposes Social Security be redesigned to incorporate Health Care Reform
New proposal for Health Care reform involves the addition of health care in Social Security , the elimination of the employer funded model, and giving choice and control to the consumer.
WEARE, NH, February 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In his first book, "Social Security Redefined", NH author Jim Thompson proposes that health care, as well as other new and improved benefits be incorporated into Social Security. The proposal would eliminate the need for employer-sponsored health care benefits, and give choice and control to consumers.
The proposal suggests that every citizen receive a tax rebate that would be used solely for the purchase of mandatory minimum benefits. The choice of plan and company would be the responsibility of each individual, rather than their employer.
"The employer funded model for providing health care benefits is outdated, and is contributing to the numbers of un-insured Americans", Thompson says. Under the proposal, all Americans, including the self-employed and the un-employed would be treated the same, enabling insurability of all US citizens.
Giving the consumer choice and control would empower citizens to make educated decisions that will help drive down the cost of health care, and increase personal savings. Employers will save costs by eliminating the need for providing benefits to their employees, while freeing up capital to provide more jobs.
In addition to health care, disability, long-term care, and other benefits will be funded within the program as well. "If these benefits are not addressed now, they too, will become the next needed "reform" plan in the near future", says Thompson. Funding of the plan would utilize the same tax systems that exist presently, with possible modifications.
